KOMANDOO ISLAND RESORT

The Island
The perfect tropical paradise pleasantly secluded from modern living and tucked away in a remote corner of the Lhaviyani Atoll where life moves at its own leisurely pace. The island opened on 13 November 1998 as the second resort in the famous Lhaviyani Atoll.

The Island is 100 meters wide and 500 meters long with a beautiful lagoon all around the island and a magnificent house reef close by which is superb for snorkeling. The vegetation is rich and green with a magnificent 30-year old coconut palm plantation as its highlight.

Transfer
It takes 40 minutes by seaplane to reach Komandoo Island Resort from the Airport. Then a quick Dhoni ride of only 3 minutes will bring you to this secluded hideaway. Clients who arrive by late night flights will overnight in a city hotel, as seaplanes do not operate after sundown. They will be transferred the next morning with the first available flight. Clients departing by evening flight will be provided a transfer as late as possible. It is recommended to take a day use room in Male' up to the time of the International departure flight.

Accommodation
Komandoo Island Resort has 10 Jacuzzi Beach Villas and 35 Beach Villas made of Finnish Wood in the shape of a shell. Beginning August 1, 2005 15 Exclusive over Water Villas will also be available.

FACILITIES
Rooms:
The villas are furnished with well designed furniture, air-conditioning, in room safe, telephone, mini-bar, coffee and tea making facilities, CD and cassette player and a wooden terrace over the beach with sun beds. The deluxe open air bathroom with walk in hot and cold desalinated water shower equipped with a circular glass shower cubicle, WC, twin wash basins with mirror, hairdryer and 230 DC shaver point. Bathrobes and beach towels are provided in the room.

Dining: Komandoo's restaurant and bar are built in a picturesque Maldivian style with exquisite furniture. Buffet breakfast and lunch are served in the main restaurant with theme dinner buffet daily. Room service and special candlelight dinners are also available. The Kandu Bar serves all the usual bar drinks and stocks the finest wines and champagnes. The cocktail list will satisfy both the romantic and the adventurous.

Diving: Komandoo is located in one of the most interesting diving areas with 48 exclusive dive-sites within a one-hour boat ride. The diving centre is managed by ProDivers Maldives with experienced English, German, French and Spanish speaking instructors.

Land Sports: Beach football and volleyball, badminton, table tennis and a gymnasium.

Water Sports: Windsurfing and canoes are free of charge. Instruction lessons and Top Cat catamaran also available.

Excursion: The variety of excursions provided include visiting a deserted island, experiencing how a dolphin friendly tuna canning factory operates, exploring a local fishing village or a sunset cruise. Spending a luxury day on 'Britt', our wooden sailing yacht is highly recommended.
